The Governing Body is made up of up to 11 governors who are unpaid volunteers from various walks of life and who are appointed in different ways. These are Community Governors, Parent Governors, Local Authority Governors, Minor Authority Governors or Staff Governors.
Much of our work is done through committees, which are responsible for monitoring areas such as the content of the curriculum, the school premises and health & safety, the financial management of the school, and how the school communicates with staff, pupils, parents and the local community. We also appoint individual governors to look at specific areas such as provision for children with particular needs, safeguarding and curriculum subjects.
In carrying out our work we make visits to the school, examine reports, review policies and compare practices and data with other schools. We ask questions to understand how and why things are done and challenge in a way that is supportive and directed towards our main aim: ensuring that your children receive the best education possible in a safe and secure environment, learning and growing throughout their years at the school.
Chair of Governor’s Address: Mrs Nina Davies, C/o Clerk to the Governors, Irfon Valley Primary School, Garth, Llangammarch Wells. Powys, LD4 4AT. 01591 620281
